Discount Vacation Rentals Online is a complete fraud
There are several real vacation home rental agencies in Orlando, Florida...Discount Vacation Rentals Online, and it's owner, Heather (don't have a last name) is not one of them. When I originally attempted to book a home through this company, it took over three days for them to respond and even then, Heather promised that she would schedule a showing of the home I saw on her website within "an hour or so", it was three days before I heard from her again. Admittedly, it should have been at that point that I found another company to rent from, but I felt sorry for her and I gave her the benefit of the doubt.
The rental we saw, WAS NOT the rental we were finally directed to, and when I brought that up to the "manager on site" I was told that they generally posted pictures that were not the actual home the customer would eventually get, but one that met the criteria of the renter as presented to Heather. The manager, Nobby, went on to tell us that this is a common occurrence in the vacation home rental industry in Central Florida.
The viewing was conveniently scheduled at night, where the FLAWS OF THE HOME WENT UN-NOTICED. The next morning, taking my morning coffee out by the pool, I was horrified to see that the pool, was GREEN WITH ALGAE!
When I contacted Heather informing her that the pool was green and that my wife would not enter it (she was pregnant), she promised to rectify the situation. She did just that by sending a kid to treat the pool. This treatment only succeeded in making an already nasty pool worse.
I agreed to rent this home from Discount Vacation Rentals Online for a period of 2 months...the duration of our vacation. After numerous conflicts, and several disturbing telephone contacts with one of the employees of Discount Vacation Rentals Online, Debbie, who was verbally abusive and intoxicated in several voice messages left on my voice mail, I decided to end my tenancy, and move to another property for the duration of our stay.
Last but not least, I had to cancel my credit card because of the continued attempts by Discount Vacation Rentals Online to incur roughly TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS of unauthorized charges to my card which were brought to my attention two days after our departure. This was reported to the local police as well as the police at home, and the Florida Department of Hotels in Tallahassee, Florida.
If your vacation is as hard earned as ours was and means as much to you as ours did, then I urge you not to even pick up the phone to call this disastrous company who is only ou
t to deceive you. Their website has only 2 comments/reviews on it...one from them....and one from me. What a sorry state of affairs that people such as these are responsible for homes that belong to owners who generally are from Europe and have never met the people who are responsible for the properties that they have undoubtedly worked very hard to acquire, and are PROUD OF.
STAY AWAY FROM DISCOUNT VACATION RENTALS ONLINE, AND HEATHER, NOBBY AND HIS ALCOHOLIC WIFE...DEBBIE. NICE MESSAGES, DEB. SAVED THEM ALL AND TURNED THEM OVER TO THE PROPER AUTHORITIES.
